Has science answered the basic question of life?

Science, a world of complicated mathematical equations consisting of proof of existence of matter and its behavior, able to measure them in terms of quantity, quality etc. When a question is raised regarding existence of life on earth, science has proved it as an evolution. Science has proved that all chemical and biological processes occur as a part of physical process. However, these processes do not prove the existence of consciousness which is treated as an unphysical element. Consciousness/ Soul/ Spirit can all is treated the same in this context.

So, let’s dig at the explanation to the existence of consciousness/soul with scientific and non-scientific approaches.

1) Scientific approach
Scientists say that consciousness is just an attribute of the brain and is a result of neural activity going on in the brain. So, does this mean that the protons and neutrons that are the basic units, generate feelings like love, happy, sad, thoughts etc?

Science says that the smallest and fundamental part of living being is an atom and atom is a just matter. This implies that it is non-living and is mindless.

Physics says that the mass of an object is the sum of all the particles inside that object. If this is true, what is it that adds up to make the soul? Let me explain how science looks at the Soul. Science says that soul is just an electromagnetic plasma which is result of fields of energy coming from our nervous system. When a person dies, this electromagnetic plasma collapses and is released into the space which is seen as "Soul" coming out from the body. But, if this is true, why science hasn’t been able to explain the facts of rebirth? How is it that a person can tell every minute and accurate details of another person who lived 100 years back and whom he doesn’t know? Or are there any explanations to the past life regression therapies that are so accurate? Does science explain that the collapsed electromagnetic energy can again be formed in a different body? This is so whimsical!

Advanced technology has created the robots that can learn just like human beings. But this does not mean that robots can make the decisions even though they are programmed to learn. They can just follow the rules that they have learnt. We learn too, but we make use of our consciousness to make the decisions and judgments even though it is against what we have learnt.

So, what is it that drives the life on earth?

2) Non- Scientific approach
This means only one thing. Soul is eternal and is connected to god (or some supreme power that is beyond our imagination) and created by god, that is just not possible to see/touch/measure/smell/hear which is a MUST for science. I see soul as plasma of cosmic energy that drives the life and animates the body. It is beyond the limits of science and I ponder whether this will be scientifically proved in future.

I will keep updating this post as and when I receive answers in order to clear my understanding on this mysterious topic that has always fascinated me. But still I wonder, has science answered the basic question of life?
