Naturopathy

I am sick in the middle of the night and I don’t have the required medicine at home. GOD! What do I do now? Now comes nature to the rescue! Some eatables are strong and significant that they act as a quick cure and they are handy as you just need to go to the kitchen to get them.

Here are some illnesses for which you can use some foods acting like medicines –

1) Severe Nose Congestion – when nose is severely congested and it is almost impossible to breathe, put a drop size of Solidified Ghee in each nostril. This takes not more than 5 mins to help you breathe easily. I consider this far more better than Vicks and the perfect solution to treat nose congestion in kids/infants.

2) Nose Bleeding- Due to nose injury / increased body heat, if nose starts bleeding, try this for quick relief. The injured person needs to lay down facing upwards to reduce the blood flowing out of nose. Get an Onion and punch it instead of cutting it with knife. The injured person needs to smell the fumes of onion. This will quickly make the bleeding to stop as the fumes act as coagulating agents.

3) Constipation – Simple enough, add 1/2 tablespoon of Ghee to 1 cup of Hot Water and drink. Drinking a half-an-half mixture of Prune juice and Apple juice is also very effective which is infact proven as a natural medicine especially for kids. Avoid constipation by chewing the food properly and take time to eat.

4) Indigestion – Swallow a tablespoon of ajwain along with Menthe. Drink water to help you swallow.

5) Hiccups – There are many ways to control hiccups –
a. Taking Deep Breaths
b. Eat a spoon of Peanut Butter for quick relief
c. Laughing out loudly is believed to quickly stop hiccups. But I have not tried it yet J

6) Acidity – Drink a cup of cold Milk/Coconut milk to get relief from acidity. Eating watermelons, cucumber, and yogurt will also help.

7) Fever – Drinking lots of water/dilute fruit juices help reduce fever. Also, one should wear light clothes so that the body releases heat in the form of sweat.

8) Dry Cough – Mixture of 1 tablespoon of Honey with few drops of Ginger extract helps reduce cough.
